Disk Catalog |verified|: Advanced
An ADC is a database application that scans storage media (HDDs, SSDs, optical discs, network shares, USB drives) and records metadata—filename, size, date stamps, file paths, checksums, and sometimes even thumbnails or text previews—into a compressed catalog file. Once the catalog is built, the original disk can be disconnected, archived, or stored offsite. You can search, filter, and locate files without ever spinning up the physical drive.
We already see baby steps in software like (for designers) and PhotoStructure (for photos), but standalone disk cataloging is slowly absorbing these AI features. advanced disk catalog
